Hazy Summer Morning

My drive to work is very scenic and one morning last week I left home just before 7 AM so I could stop and take photos along the way. It was sunny and hazy which means the light can be a bit weird.

Round hay bales at the top of a hill ready to be picked up and stored for winter.

Close up of a round bale of hay.

Mountains, lake and a stone and a wood fence. When I see a stone fence I think of Robert Frost's poem Mending Wall which ends with the famous line "Good fences make good neighbors."

Another view of the lake and the mountain.

Hi sbk --

Vermont's looking very green these days! Do people go hiking in Vermont? Have always associated it more with skiing! :)

Hi ytsl,

Vermont is called the Green Mountain State (from French Vert=Green Mont=mountain)and stays very green until the leaves change color in the fall.

Yes, there is lots of hiking as the state is rural with mountains, valleys and small lakes. The Long Trail runs 273 miles (438km) from the Mass border to Canada and includes most of the major mountains. Also part of it coincides with the Appalachian Trail. Hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, boating, etc are big here.

The railroad which ran trough the center of town is gone and now is a flat trail one can walk on for several miles and visit other small towns. I think most locals use it as a dog walk/jogging trail.
